Hand painted items are so wonderful and even more so when done skillfully by a home studio artist. This wonderful portrait plate of a Victorian lady, circa 1890 - 1910, is done in an unusual combination of colors consisting of chocolate brown, light brown, mauve, flesh tones, gray and black. The center of the plate is dominated by a lovely lady with bouffant hairstyle, huge black hat with feather plume, flawless completion and facial features. The background of chocolate brown is accented with mauve colored roses and black rick-rack border. The plate measures 10" across and is marked "France". The name "Charlotte" appears on the base, which may be the name of the subject or signature of the artist. There are no cracks, chips or repairs on this wonderful piece.
