The Trifari Jewelry Company was created in 1918 by Gustavo Trifari who had immigrated to this country from Italy in 1904 and founded Trifari NYC in 1910. Considered one of the largest and best known producers of costume jewelry, producing he highest quality and styles from imaginative sterling vermeil figurals of the 1940's to its classic gold and silver-tone styles.
This lovely and scarce bird of paradise brooch is constructed from several individual pieces of heavy gold-tone metal. The long, narrow tail feathers and head plumage is enameled in cobalt blue and emerald green, the head is studded with clear rhinestones and adorned with a sapphire blue navette eye. The piece measures 3 1/2" in length and 1" in width and has a safely clasp. The marking is "Trifari" stamped with the copyright symbol and a crown over the T in a rectangle. This brooch is as fine as any of the exotic bird pins by other famous makers. The all original condition is near mint and ready for you to wear and be admired.
