William Hobe immigrated to the United States from France in the first part of the twentieth century. The original family owned-and-operated jewelry company which began in 1927 was sold in the late 1990's or 2000. The Hobe mark is still being used today. This lovely sterling silver brooch, circa 1940's, is composed of a large rose and leaves forming a wonderful 3-dimensional image. It measures 2 1/2" in length and 1 1/8" in width with safely clasp attachment. It is stamped "Hobe Sterling" in a triangle cartouche; this mark was used form 1941 to 1947. In near mint condition with nice patina.
