The Wheeling Pottery Company of Wheeling, West Virginia was organized in 1879. Around 1890 the company introduced their "LaBelle" series of decorated white semi-porcelain ware. Included in this series, circa 1893 - 1903, was a flow blue decorated ware. This lovely bowl, which could be for cereal or soup, is from that segment. The decoration consists of embossed swirls, sprays of small flowers and delicate gold trim. The bowl measures 6 3/8" across and 2" in depth. The stamped mark is a flame with a eagle's head on each side along with the letters W P beneath and "LaBelle China". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some minor utensil marks on the interior base of the bowl.
