Figural fairings are small decorated nineteenth century hard-paste porcelain objects, largely figural groups and covered boxes. They were usually produced in England and Germany and sold a country fairs during the last half of he 1800's.
This lovely ring or trinket box features a lid adorned with 3-dimensional pair of birds perched on branches overlooking their full nest of eggs; the base is decorated with an embossed garland of leaves. It measures 2 3/4" long, 2" wide and 2 1/2" high. Unmarked as to the maker. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; the original paint shows expected ware for its age.
