This lovely little Whiting and Davis Art Deco, flapper era purse is made of enameled metal mesh with a chain handle and is as near perfect as we have ever seen. Our guess is that it was never used. This snappy little geometric design has no sag in the corners and the pictures indicate both corners of the frame depicting how they are supposed to look when new. There is a metal Whiting and Davis hang tag on the inside of the frame. At the time these enameled purses were created, they were enameled by hand. The enameling process required a very thin coat by the artist and coating many times after each coat had dried. It has a pierced silver tone frame with flowers outlined by a leaf design. There is a kiss closure and it finishes in seven van dyke points. Very sweet in brown, blue, and pinky orange on a cream background. It measures 6.5 inches from the top of the closure to the bottom x 4 inches wide exclusive of chain handle. The handle measures 5.75 inches from its longest point to the top of the frame. The front and back of bag are the same design. The epitome of Art Deco...
