Offered here for your consideration, is this rare and realistic nautical etching titled, 'Boats to Let' pencil signed by the renowned American artist and illustrator, Morgan Dennis (1892 - 1960) This small piece is presented in its original mahogany frame which measures 8 1/2" x 6 3/4". The etching itself, measures 5 1/8" x 3 3/4". Mr. Dennis was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up on Long Island, New York. He studied art with William Harry Warren Bicknell. Morgan Dennis is best known for his paintings of dogs which accounts for most of his work, thereby making his nautical pieces quite rare. He is the artist who painted the well known black and white scotties for the Black and White Scotch Whiskey Company. That particular ad campaign was used for many years. One of his murals called The Dog House is in the bar and lounge at the Sheraton Russell Hotel in New York City. We acquired this piece as part of a pair, although we are selling them separately. The two nautical pieces are the same size and framed alike, if you would like to purchase the pair. See our Ruby Lane store for the etching entitled, 'Incoming Tide'. If you are starting a collection of etchings, these two would be a fine purchase.
