Ingouf was a student of Flippart. The engraving is after a work by Charles Benazech (1767 London-1794 London). This artist, at the age of 15, went to Rome; on his return he stayed in Paris, where he worked with Greuze. He made his name by four paintings representing the last days of Louis XVI. Perfect condition. This work has been restored by a professional & accurate restorer. The mounting is custom made, done as they used to do in the past, with hand-laid inkwash, it is acid-free (neutral Ph).
