French chromolithograph print, female portrait of a woman holding a flower bouquet, symbolizing Summer. It constitutes one part of our set of the Four Seasons (please check out shop to see the other etchings of the complete set).
Chromolithograph was a technique of edition invented around 1840 to challenge the tecnics of etching and woodcut, as it revealed to be less expensive.
It had a considerable success, as well as developing advertisement with posters, as for reproducing paintings at a low cost : still lifes, lanscapes, portraits, genre scenes, became very popular elements of decoration for the home.
