This is a pretty hand painted French Faience plate, done in provincial, or country style. There's a cheery bird above a pot of flowers. Faience is a tin-glazed earthenware, like Delft and majolica.

It is a bit over 9" in diameter (23 cm). It has various flaws. One large chip, one medium chip, and one slight glaze chip show on the front. There is also an almost 2" long hairline crack from the edge (at about the 1:00 position).

The plate is marked on the back: St Clement medaille (the next word is obscured, but is "d'or" ) .
