This is a lovely survivor (from about 1780) of an English blue and white soft paste porcelain dessert plate made by Thomas Turner of the Caughley (or Salopian) Works of Shropshire. The firm was in business from 1775 to 1799.

The pattern has 2 names: "Fisherman" or "Pleasure Boat".

It is in excellent condition, with only 2 tiny nicks to the back of the edge. (See close-up photo.) The plate still rings when tapped. Slightly under 9" in diameter.

Photo 5 shows the rare impressed mark "Salopian". Godden's mark number 810. This mark was used c. 1775-80.

Please also see the other 18th C Caughley & Worcester porcelains which I currently have for sale in my shop.
