This large, attractive mug has beautiful hand painted roses and a rather long inscription. It says: Presented to Albert Edward Gilbert by his Godson John James Gilbert. March 11th 1860.

The mug is 3-3/4" high, and 4" in diameter. The condition is excellent. No chips, no cracks, no crazing, no repairs. It rings when tapped.

There is wear to 4 of the gilt letters in the elder Gilbert's name:(bert). There are specks of gray in various spots over the mug (these may be impurities which came out during the firing).

There are no marks to identify the maker.
