The subject is unusual. This is not one of the common portraits brooches that you see all of the time. This lovely brooch measures about 1-1/2" wide by 2" long. There is evidence of hand painting.
The gilded brass fitting has a beaded surround. The clasp is a simple "C" without a safety. There is an impressed numeral on the back, which I can't make out, because it is covered by the clasp. No other identifying marks.
The brooch is in excellent condition, with no damage.
