What a great piece of yellow ware! This lipped bowl with green sponging is in excellent condition, with only two shallow chips*, and some glaze wear on the edges. I have taken close-up photos of those minor flaws. There are no major chips, no cracks, and no repairs. *One under the spout and one under the handle rest at the back.
The bowl is 4" high, 7-1/4" across to the spout, and 6-3/4" average diameter.
You can see its mate in Kevin McConnell's book "Spongeware and Spatterware", on page 76. He says, "Known as a "gypsy kettle", this item has an attached bail handle and is made from yellow ware clay decorated with green sponging. Late 19th century."
