Wild early 19th C Coalport Porcelain Plate in a hand painted and gaudy Japan Pattern. This plate measures 7-3/4" in diameter. Circa 1820.
It is in excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, no repairs. There are utensil marks. There is wear to the original orange lustre edge trim. The plate rings when tapped.
I have several pieces of this pattern, including tea cups and coffee cups. Only one piece of the partial set is marked with Godden's Coalport mark #944, a distinctive impressed 2, used c. 1815-1825. This plate is UNMARKED except for a blue "L" or "7" on the foot rim, which may be a workman's tally.
