This beautifully carved shell cameo brooch of a woman with the classic straight "Roman" nose is surrounded by reddish-brown shell. The scarf draping from her hair is in very high relief. It is a very wearable size: about 1-3/4" long and 1-3/8" wide.
The brooch also has a swivel collapsible loop bail so you can wear it as a pendant or a pin. The pin has a safety clasp which dates this brooch early 20th C. The mounting is gilded brass. The cameo is in excellent condition, as you can see from the photos.
