This early breakfast cup and saucer set was made c. 1815 in Wedgwood's first attempt at a bone china body. The printed and hand painted pattern was called "Complex Japan", and can be seen on the Wedgwood Museum's website.

Breakfast cups from the early 19th century are rare. The extra large cup was a special addition to tea sets, and was rarely available or ordered. This breakfast cup measures only slightly larger that the regular tea cup: 2.71" high vs. 2.4" high, and diameter of 3.54" vs. 3.46".

The cup is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no wear to the pattern, and no repairs. It rings nicely when tapped. The matching saucer has a 1.25" crack (which is most visible from the back). But, as you can see, it displays well. FREE SHIPPING!
