This is one of the scarcer plates in the series Wedgwood created featuring the campuses of American universities. The 10-1/4" plate shows a view of Denny Hall, with the University of Washington seal. It has attractive scalloped edges. It dates early 1950s.
This large 10-1/4" plate is in excellent condition. There are no cracks, chips, utensil marks or crazing. It rings when tapped (as well as earthenware ever rings).
The back is marked: Denny Hall, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. It has the Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, Made in England mark, and is also impressed Wedgwood. The Boston distributor of Jones, McDuffee & Stratton Co. has their mark on the back.
I also have a companion plate available in my shop. It shows the University of Washington "Chimes Tower".
This piece is a consignment. I will take any reasonable offers to the owner.
