Although unmarked, this gadroon-edged porcelain plate is definitely Grainger, Lee & Co.'s pattern 1492, described in the pattern books as "5-petalled flowers around borders, flowers growing out of a pot in the center", as noted on page 223 of "Grainger's Worcester Porcelain", by Henry and John Sandon. I have a single matching plate with that pattern number handwritten on it. The plate dates c 1825.
The plate is 8-7/8" (22.5 cm). Its condition is very good. There are no chips, no cracks, minimal crazing, and no repairs. There is wear to the gilding of the rim. There is a light brown spot on the back, likely done during the firing. It does not ring when tapped.
I have three of these plates available. The listed price is for one plate. A fourth one has the full pattern number 1492 hand painted in red (quite small) near the footrim. These 3 plates do NOT have the whole pattern number on it, just the last two numbers: 92. Many pre-1840 pieces from this maker were not marked.
I guarantee the authenticity of all items I sell, and disclose any damage or restoration. Your satisfaction is guaranteed, or your money back! PayPal accepted. Visa/MasterCard/American Express/Discover accepted.
