This small coffee cup and saucer set was made by Edward F. Bodley & Co., of Burslem, Staffordshire, about 1870. We Americans call this size "demitasse".

I found this exact pattern pictured in Michael Berthoud's "An Anthology of British Cups" on page 150, plate 899. This is his description: Bodley, pattern number 7/3481 and Bodley impressed on the saucer, straight sided cup decorated with green leaves and grey flowers on a cream ground, plain loop handle."

The cup is 2-1/4" high. It is in perfect condition. The 4-1/2" saucer is in very good condition, with one tiny nick on the edge, and several "in-the-making" tiny black pock marks. Both pieces ring when tapped.
