Specializing in Georgian Period Tablewares: Spode, Wedgwood, Coalport, Mason's, Worcester, Derby, Minton, Davenport, etc.
This unmarked 9-1/2" pearlware plate can be firmly identified as Minton, thanks to the five pages devoted to "Hermit" pattern
in Priestman's "Illustrated Guide to Minton Printed Pottery". The pattern is also known as "Bridgeless Chinoiserie". Although the pattern was made by several other potters, he notes that only the Minton version has 7 birds in the sky and the lack of a "solid" pillar on the left corner of the main building. See the illustration shown on page 52, plate 4.5.
We have two of these rarely found plates available. Both are in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs on either plate. Both plates ring when tapped. Both have 3 stilt marks on the back, a blue number "2", and slight utensil marks.
The price shown is for a single plate. FREE SHIPPING!
I guarantee the authenticity of all items I sell, and disclose any damage or restoration. Your satisfaction is guaranteed, or your money back! PayPal accepted. Visa/MasterCard/American Express/Discover accepted.
