This 8" plate is in very good condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There is some wear to the overglaze enamels. It rings like a bell when tapped.

The plate has the single line impressed mark: MASON'S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA. This mark dates the plate in the range of 1813-1825. However, since this is a very early pattern it dates closer to 1815. Geoffrey Godden recognized this as "Mason's pattern number 1". The Mason's Collectors' Club code for this version of the pattern is OE1a. This pattern is also known as "Indian Grasshopper".
