This round porcelain dish with a domed cover was used for serving warm muffins. It would have been part of a 19th C breakfast or tea service. The Covered Muffin Dish is 22.5 cm wide (almost 9").

The pattern, called "Abstract Chinoiserie", can be seen in "Hilditch Porcelain" on page 87, and in "Staffordshire Porcelain" page 263. It was made between 1819 and 1835. The similar Rathbone pattern is slightly different (see photo on page 116 of Ian Harvey's "Rathbone".

Both pieces are in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. Each piece rings like a bell!
