Here is a pretty plate by a rather obscure Staffordshire potter. The Stephen Folch company was in business in Stoke for only 10 years, from 1819 to 1829. The pastel pattern is called "Bamboo & Basket". A photo of this Folch pattern can be found in "Godden's Guide to Ironstone", page 44, (although the colors are more strident in that example). The colors in this plate are soft and subdued. There is also a black and white photo of this plate in the same book on page 243.
The large 9-5/8" plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. It rings when tapped.
The Folch mark on the back is HUGE. It is the pre-1837 British Royal Arms, plus "IMPROVED IRONSTONE CHINA" printed in black.
Note: I have two of these plates available. The listed price is for one plate.
