Specialist Dealer in Early 19th Century English China

This 9-3/4" plate features the "Flying Bird" pattern, which was very popular among Staffordshire potters about 1815-1820. According to researcher Angela Grant, "This pattern was called 'Gold Bird' in the (Hicks & Meigh) factory pattern and pattern description books."
The plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There are utensil marks. The plate rings when tapped.
It is marked on the back with the blue printed "Stone China" mark often attributed to Hicks, Meigh & Johnson. But see Godden's mark 2023. He says: "This mark may have been used earlier by Hicks & Meigh." Hicks & Meigh were active 1806-1822, during the time this pattern was so popular.
