This mid-19th century, hand-painted, Rose Medallion porcelain plate measures 7 3/4 inches wide. The colors are vibrant, and touches of gold in the hair of the women denote both the age and quality of the plate.
There are many nicks and shallow chips to the front edge. I have photographed all of these for you. None of them has formed a crack The back rim retains fine grains of sand from the kiln. There are some firing cracks (done in the making) which show only on the back. The plate still rings like a bell when tapped.
It is unsigned. Circa 1850.
