This vibrant dish was part of a John & William Ridgway dessert service, likely being the under-tray for a fruit basket. The four molded tendrils distinguish it from the dinner service in the same pattern. It is 10-1/2" long, and 8-1/4" wide.

The piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. It dates c 1830.

The pattern is Ridgway's #993. It is marked with that pattern number, and "IRONSTONE CHINA", one of the "anonymous" marks mentioned by Geoffrey Godden in his book "Godden's Guide to Ironstone", and identified by K. Church.

Note: We also have available the matching sauce tureen with attached underplate.
