This pretty 9-3/4" Bone China Soup Plate is over 200 years old, but looks as if it were made yesterday. It was made by John & William Ridgway at their Cauldon Place works in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire about 1815.
The piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. It rings when tapped.
The soup plate is a very heavy Bone china, with translucence being apparent only at the rim. There are 8 notches on the rim. The pattern is "Rock formation and Flowers", printed in black and filled with multi-colored enamels. There are four large and four small floral sprigs on border. The pattern echoes the colors and style of their pattern 767, (which is NOT bone china, but marked with Ridgway's "Japan Opaque" mark.) I have an example of pattern 767 available here in my shop.
The plate is marked on the back with the hand painted number 862. You can see it illustrated on the wonderful "Ridgway Pattern Book" website.
I have 3 of these soup plates available. The price shown is for one.
I guarantee the authenticity of all items I sell, and disclose any damage or restoration. Your satisfaction is guaranteed, or your money back! PayPal accepted. Visa/MasterCard/American Express/Discover accepted.
