This beautiful and rare small candlestick was designed to melt sealing wax, and was likely sold as part of a desk set. It is just under 3" high at the thumb rest. The diameter of the base is 2-1/8".

The shape may be found in Spode's 1820 Shape book, but was used as early as 1803. The "Dollar Pattern" is Spode's pattern 715, which was introduced in 1805. This candlestick is not marked with either pattern number or maker, but is guaranteed to be Georgian Period Spode.

The piece is in excellent condition, with virtually no wear to the gilding or pattern. There is a tiny, stable crack which can be seen in our fifth photo.
