This very rare porcelain sucrier with dolphin mask handles was made by John Rose c.1800-1810. The shape can been seen on pages 82 and 83 of Michael Messenger's "Coalport" book. The pattern is the highly sought-after "Finger and Thumb". Although a later version of "Finger and Thumb" was made at Coalport, this first version (with the very distinctive Greek Key gilding) dates it c 1800. See page 87 of "Coalport".

The piece is about 6-1/2" long and 5-3/4" high . It is in very good condition. There is very little wear to the pattern and gilding. Both cover and base ring nicely when tapped. There are chips to the top of each mask handle, which have been colored gold. See close-up photos. No other chips, cracks or repairs.

We also have a teapot stand available in this pattern.
