This gorgeous 8-1/4" porcelain plate is profusely gilded and decorated in the sought-after "Rock and Tree" or "Money Tree" Japan Pattern. It is very early 19th C. , dating about 1805 according to Michael Messenger. He illustrates and dates the pattern in his book "Coalport" (on page 103).
This plate is profusely gilded, and was very expensive when it was made. Some versions of this pattern have very little gilding, and cost less.
The plate is in excellent condition, with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. It rings nicely when tapped. There is some slight wear to some of the gilding. It is not signed on the back, as is usual for this period of Coalport porcelains.
