This pretty 9-1/2" shaped plate has the rare earliest transfer-printed mark of C.J. Mason. It is the crown and banner mark without the Mason's name. According to the book "Mason Porcelain & Ironstone 1796-1833" by Haggar & Adams, this mark dates 1813-15. It is shown on page 111 of their book.
The pattern is popularly called "Long Tailed Pheasant". The Mason Collectors Club calls it "Oriental Pheasant".
The plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There is wear to the surface from utensil use, seen best in glancing light. The plate displays well, and rings when tapped.
