This pretty 19th C Porcelain Cream Jug was made by Joseph Machin, Burslem, Staffordshire between 1828 and 1830. The Dolphin handle is quite distinctive. The creamer is in pristine condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. And, surprisingly, the gilding on the lip is not worn. The creamer rings like a bell when tapped. It is 4-1/2" high at the handle.

It is marked with the hand painted pattern number 769. This pattern is described as "A formal floral pattern in bright enamel colours. An Imari pattern with C-scrolls with large flowers in a vase in the centre." This from the book "Machin Porcelains & Earthenwares" by Thom & Miller, page 172.

This shape of creamer is shown on pages 37 and 64 of the same book, where it is noted that the shape is rare.
