Mason's Ironstone Plate "Double Landscape", Gilding, Antique 19th C
This gorgeous shaped plate is the original "Double Landscape" pattern produced by Charles James Mason c 1830. The cobalt blue background is so dark that it looks almost black. There is much gilding.
The 9" plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There is very slight wear to some of the gilded leaves in the center. The plate rings when tapped.
The back has some hand painted decoration. It is marked MASON S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA with a black printed angular crown and banner. That mark dates the plate post-1840.
