This gorgeous 8-1/2" gilded plate is in pristine condition! It has no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no repairs, and no utensil marks. It rings when tapped. It is marked on the back with the linear impressed mark: MASON'S PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA , used between 1813 and 1820. The mark is faintly impressed, and was hard to photograph.
The pattern is called "Colored Wall" or "Coloured Wall". It has several alternate names including: OC9a, OC109d, Castellated Wall, and Oriental Walled Pagoda. The Z shaped brick wall is a distinctive motif on all pieces in this interesting pattern. A very tiny pagoda motif is seen on the other side of the brick wall. I could not find another example of this pattern available for sale. Don't miss it!
