This attractive Davenport 8.75" plate sports a "somewhat rare Stone China mark" according to Lockett and Godden in their "Davenport" book. A photo of this pattern (number 135) can be found on page 119 of that book. The plate dates to c 1820-30.
It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. The gilding on both the edge and the pattern are unworn. The plate rings like a bell when tapped. There is a tiny bit of frit on the blue "rock" in the center, and a pencil-point nick to the peach enamel under it. Please see the final photo.
The plate has a blue garter mark on the back which reads: Stone China Davenport Longport Staffordshire. Also, hand painted in red: 135.
