This attractive box is decorated in gold, silver, red and brown enamels. The subject seems to be a Samurai or Daimyo on horseback, preceded by his servant, coming home to his family.
The box is 11" long, 7" wide, and 2-3/4" deep. There are a few scratches and worn spots to the decoration. The hinges work well, but there is a loose chip to the inside covering the left hinge. It was set in place for the photo, but it should be glued. Overall, in excellent condition for its age.
