This delightful porcelain teapot sports the Hilditch Chinoiserie pattern called "Dancing Dog". The teapot is about 10.5" long and 6.25" high. It holds 5 cups. It was made about 1830-35 by Hilditch & Son of Lane End, Staffordshire.

Although unmarked, there is lots of evidence as to its maker. There are examples of the pattern in Davis' "Chinoiserie" and Hewitt & Owen's "Hilditch Porcelain". The shape of the teapot is typically Hilditch, and can be seen on page 265 of "Staffordshire Porcelains", in the chapter by Peter Helms.

The teapot is in very good condition. There are no repairs and no visible cracks. There is one small chip at the end of the spout, and a small spot of discoloration on the base near the spout. The interior shows a fair bit of discoloration. Neither cover nor pot ring when tapped. The teapot displays very well.

Note: I've just listed another matching but smaller Hilditch teapot.
