This charming porcelain cup was made by Hilditch and Son of Lane End, Staffordshire, about 1825. The pattern is called "Three Figures and Arch". A photo of the pattern can be found in Howard Davis' book "Chinoiserie" on page 128. Note: the "arch" may be seen on the matching saucer (which I don't have), but was not transferred to the cup.

The cup stands about 2.25" high and has a 3.50" diameter. It is in very good condition, with no chips, no repairs, and no visible cracks. However, it does not ring when tapped. The blue line in the bottom of the cup is just an "in the making" error.

It is clearly marked on the base, H & S, and has the pattern number 5 in blue.
