Antique Spode Porcelain Cup & Saucer, Pattern 498, Georgian, c 1803 - image 1 of 8

This superb hand painted and gilded porcelain set is decorated in the Japanese style. There are fences, flowers, and odd looking birds. This pattern, 498, from the Josiah Spode II period, dates about 1803.

Both the cup and saucer are in excellent condition, with only a little wear to the gilding of the saucer. No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Both pieces ring when tapped. The saucer's diameter is 5-1/2",the cup is 2-1/4" high.

Although unmarked, the cup and saucer are guaranteed to be Spode's 498. You may see another example of this Spode pattern on the lovely Antique Spode website. See my favorite links for more information.
