This attractive Staffordshire cup and saucer is a rare survivor of children's play. It dates to the mid-19th century. The cup is 2" high. The saucer's diameter is 4-1/2".
There is crazing to the saucer, but no discoloration. The back of the saucer shows some grit on the foot rim which was done in the firing, and some further grit at the back edge of the saucer lip. There are a couple of tiny nicks to the lip of the cup which seem to have been glazed over, so again, done in the making.
