This attractive large plate is a variation on the 'Blue Willow" theme. The outer border is a green basketweave pattern. The interior transfer is a greenish-brown with colored-in areas of dark red-brown, green, and teal.
The mark on the back says "HANKOW", Woods Burslem England. This mark was put into use by Wood & Sons of Staffordshire in 1931. There is an impressed mark "W 423".
The 10" plate is in very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, utensil marks, discoloration, or repairs. There is surface crazing on the front and back which can be seen in glancing light. I was not able to get a good photo of the crazing. The plate rings when tapped.
