This elegant teapot is in amazing condition! The gilding is all intact, the hand painted decoration (brown oak leaves and golden acorns) is still bright and strong. Worcester was famous for good gilding, and this teapot attests to that.

Both the base and the lid are marked with the incised "B", Godden's mark 4333, which he dates c.1792-1807.

The teapot shape is pictured in plate 601 , page 101 of Michael Berthoud's "Directory of British Teapots". This is his description of it: "Barr, Worcester, c1800, hybrid hard paste porcelain, scratched B mark, elongated version with complex moulded handle, distinctive break in the profile, curved prow rising at the front above the partly fluted spout, 13 hole strainer."

The spout is perfect, the handle is perfect, and the finial is perfect. I can find only two flaws in the condition. One is a chip to the interior of the lid; it is unseen when the lid is in place. The second is a tight hairline on the base which does not go through to the interior. The teapot still rings when tapped. I have photographed these flaws for you.
