These gorgeous Flow Blue Soup Plates graced the walls of their last home. They are very decorative! They are large, measuring 10-1/2" in diameter.

The body is not stoneware, but pearlware; evidenced by the pooling of blue under the foot rims. The plates were made before most potters marked each piece of their output. They were made before the use of pattern names became popular. I date them c. 1850 or earlier.

Each is marked with an impressed number "4", and a blue painted x in a circle. One of them has a handpainted pattern number in red "8359". Since the pattern number may one day be used to identify the maker, I am offering the two soup plates together as a pair.

Their condition is excellent. There are no cracks, no chips, and no repairs on either plate. There is wear to the gilding. Both pieces ring when tapped.

The price listed is for 2 soup plates.
