This attractive oval fishtail-shaped Teapot Stand is decorated with a gilt and brown enamel scrolled leaf design. It is about 7" long and 4-3/4" wide.
The base is marked with an incised B x for Barr. It is Godden's mark 4334, which helps dates the piece between 1782 and 1806. However, I have found an example of this shape in Miller's 2009 Antiques Price Guide, page 49, which the auctioneers Woolley & Wallis date c. 1798.
Another example can be seen at the website of the Carnegie Museum of Art.
They date theirs c. 1810.
The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. It rings when tapped. There is some wear to the gilded ovals in the center.
