This large covered sugar bowl is 7 " high and about 7" wide from handle to handle. The body is a very thick soft paste porcelain. It is in good condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is crazing and light brown discoloration in several places.

Howard Davis, the author of "Chinoiserie Polychrome Decoration of Staffordshire Porcelain 1790-1850" named this pattern "The Mongol Huntsman".
It was popular for many years, and made by many different Staffordshire potteries. He states "No marked example has been found".

This piece is unmarked. I date it c. 1840.
