This pretty 19th C English bone china teapot and matching stand are covered with lilac colored "sprigs". The sprigs were molded separately, and attached to the body with slip before the final firing.

There is a photo of this teapot on page 305, plate 1827 of "A Directory of British Teapots" by Berthoud and Maskell. Their description reads, "Unidentified "Chameleon Group", c.1835, bone china, no pattern number...with lilac sprigs." The teapot has 3 triangular feet, and is a flattened melon shape.

The teapot is in very good condition. There is crazing, a tiny chip on the spout, and a faint hairline crack in the handle. Please see the photos of these flaws. The gilding is in excellent condition. The teapot is about 9-3/4" long.

The 8-3/4" stand has crazing, and several short hairline cracks from the outside edge. Again, the gilding is in excellent condition.
