This is a gorgeous and pristine Yates porcelain creamer in the "bird cage" design. An example of this pattern (shown on a cup) may be seen at the terrific Norwich Castle Museum web site.
Here is their description: "wide mazarine blue border with gilt cartouches containing yellow ground and gilt 'bird cage' design, gilt border at centre body and footring with gilt highlights. Molded "oak and mistletoe" rim. Foliate handle. Pattern number 1209."
The maker of this creamer is John Yates, Staffordshire, c. 1824-1830. It is marked on the base with the hand painted pattern number 1209.
The creamer is about 17 cm (6-3/4") long and 9.5 cm (3-3/4") long. The condition is amazingly perfect. No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Usually creamers show wear to the gilding and pattern from frequent washing. This creamer has no wear.
