Describing this extraordinary carving is difficult since we are not certain of its original use. It was originally shown to us as a scarf closure. Therefore, we will continue to show it the same way. Regardless of use,it is a remarkable carving and features a carved heart shape highlighted by a small heart in red. the significance is a question without an answer. We have questioned several experts without any answers--just more guesses.
The carving is wonderful.

The fingers are especially well done. Finger nails and knuckles are realistic. The upper portion design could be a glove--another question! the hand measures 2 1/2 inches in length and is 1 inch at its widest. It weighs 7.3 grams.

One of the photos shows the hand on a finger. It fits a size 4 to 5 finger if anyone chooses to show it off that way. it certainly would attract attention. As a "one-of-a-kind" it is a treasure to add to a collection of the most unusual.
