This beautiful ornate pierced wide shank holds one of the lovliest examples of Georgian gems. The top is pave set with pearls encircling a natural purple sapphire. The sapphire is mounted in silver and the purple/ pinkish color has intense color and brilliance. There is an inscription inside the ring's shank, but it is partially faded and we are unable to determine its full meaning. The gold has been acid tested and reads a very high 18K--possibly a higher carat.

The ring is size 8. The shank, at its widest is 6mm and approximately 2mm at its narrowest point. The top-- A "forget-me-not" flower design is 7/16 of an inch in diameter. There is an empty locket compartment on the back of the face which most likely held the sentiment of a loved one. The locket cover is missing. Perhaps an expert jeweler could create a replacement.

The ring is in outstanding condition, and is beautiful on the hand. We came upon a wonderful antique ring box and although it is not original to the ring, we will send the ring in it. This gem deserves to be shown and kept in its proper place when not on your hand.
